John McCain’s ethical problems

October 14, 2008

It has now been reported that William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.

McCain’s choice for Vice President – someone whom he met for one long hour before picking her – has now been found guilty of abusing her power and violating state ethics laws in Alaska. She allowed her husband – who was a drunk and had been convicted of DUI before, like George Bush – to put impermissible pressure on her subordinates to advance her personal agenda. This was one of the findigns in a report of a BIPARTISAN investigation commonly referred to as the Troopergate scandal. Of all the many highly qualified and ethical Republicans, McCain – a 72-year old cancer patient – chose a pig-with-lipstick with zero experience to be a heart beat away from the presidency.  Great judgment there, my friends.

McCain was deeply involved with Charles Keating who is a convicted felon who caused one of the largest financial crises in American history. McCain was a key figure in the Keating Five scandal. He took money from the convicted felon and tried to get bank regulators to lay off Keating.

Put the Charles Keating scandal, McCain’s lobbyists in his campaign and Sarah Palin and you have a toxic mix of unethical behavior and extremely poor judgment. In the words of the pig-with-lipstick – you betcha.
